[Tracking Every Minute]-Day 21 – Holiday Saturday

This post is the twenty first post in the #trackingeveryminute challenge. You can follow along here.

In addition to this being a Saturday, it is also holiday time. Not much in the way of work, but there is a bunch of family time. Need to make the most of it.

7:30 – 9:30. Woke up later than usual. This will probably be the norm for the holiday season.

9:30 – 11:30. Son had a boxing workout, I typically hit the gym at the same time.

11:30 – 12:30. Walked with the dogs.

12:30 – 3:00. Lunch and ice cream with the in-laws.

3:00 – 6:00. Cut a cake for my niece.

6:00 – 7:00. Hang at home.

7:00 – 8:00. Family dinner.

8:00 – 11:00. Family Christmas movie

Family Time + Family Time

‘Tis the season, which means it is all about family. As I’ve discussed previously, I want to focus on making the most of all the time I have. Not only time when I am working.

Time with my kids at home is limited. As they approach 18, most of the time I will spend with them will be in the past. Tim Urban has a great post on this.

It turns out that when I graduated from high school, I had already used up 93% of my in-person parent time. I’m now enjoying the last 5% of that time. We’re in the tail end.

As the parent in this situation, I am nearing the tail end of my 93%. I am going to take advantage of it.

Main Takeaway

  • Going to sleep later = waking up later. Don’t stress out about it.
  • Tim Urban’s tail end is a great reminder to make the most of the time I have with my children.
