[Tracking Every Minute]-Day 30 – Monday Number 5
This post is the thirtieth post in the #trackingeveryminute challenge. You can follow along here.
I can’t believe it, but this is the fifth Monday of the #trackingeveryminute challenge. I had to go back and look at the calendar myself. It’s also the last Monday of the challenge.
I’ve learned so much from the experience that I am confident I will do a better job of tracking towards my goals in 2025.
As mentioned in previous Monday updates (Day 2, Day 9, Day 16, Day 23), during a regular month, it is really important that I “win” on Monday. Coming back from a weekend where I will often do very little or no work, switching back into work mode on a Monday sets the tone for the rest of the week.
We are still in the holiday season, so I am just happy to get any work in today.

6:45 – 7:45. Up and reading.
7:45 – 8:45. Communication block, where I batch emails and calls.
8:45 – 11:45. First deep work block of the day.
11:45 – 12:45. Lunch. Kids were out with mom, so this was back to a normal lunch break.
12:45 – 2:45. Second deep work block of the day. Great for a Monday to get 2 deep work blocks in. Even better on the Monday between Christmas and New Year’s.
2:45 – 3:45. Walk
3:45 – 4:30. Second “communication block” of the day. Again, batching of emails, posting on socials, and phone calls.
4:30 – 7:30. Hang with kids once they get back from a day out.
7:30 – 8:30. Family dinner
8:30 – 10:30. Games at home with the kids.
Monday Number 5

See what I did there, Monday #5 = Mambo #5.
What I am trying to say is that I am getting into a rhythm. Similar to Mambo No 5, on Monday number 5, I am in a rhythm. I know that I have to switch into work mode.
What’s made this easiest is planning the day the night before. I cannot explain how powerful this practice is. Planning your day the night before reduces any of the ambiguity you might have in your day. You are not aiming for perfection in your planning. You are going to have to make changes.
Your only aim is to have a plan before you wake up. Change the plan as frequently as you have to. But have a plan.
Main Takeaways
- Planning your day the night before might be the most powerful habit I have picked up.
